Four bank heists in the first three days of this week in Guadalajara brought the total in February to 14 – one every 30 or so hours.
February’s figure is already higher than the total for the first two months of 2015. In addition, authorities are becoming concerned at a spike in the number of assaults on customers leaving banks after making large withdrawals. The assailants, known colloquially as “conejeros,” usually work in pairs and make quick getaways on motorbikes.
