Arlin Herrera, 13, a resident of the Love in Action children’s shelter in Chapala, recently competed at the Copa Mykonos gymnastics competition in Leon.
This was Herrera’s first chance to compete as a representative of Greca Gimnasia Olympico, and her scores earned her first place in her level in all four events in which she competed.
Her accomplishments are all the more impressive given that she has only been taking lessons for a year. The results she obtained will undoubtedly encourage her to maintain the high level of effort and interest in the sport that she has demonstrated thus far.
Dalia Zepeda, Love in Action’s administrative director, points out that Herrera is only able to follow her dreams in gymnastics thanks to the financial support of her expatriate sponsors.
