There’s another good reason not to talk on your cell phone while driving – apart from the fact that it’s dangerous and against the law.
In recent weeks, several drivers have reported being the victims of “drive-by” thieves on motorbikes.
The thieves – referred to as “motoratones” – target drivers who are chatting on their cell phones, often in their left hands and with their windows wound down.
They usually work in pairs and wait until the target pulls up at a red light. Their maneuver is simple but effective. The bike up draws close to the driver talking on the phone and the back seat assailant swiftly leans in the open window, snatches the phone and the pair roar away.
