Chapala area traffic police are keeping a close watch over the busy shopping district in San Antonio Tlayacapan where errant motorists are frequently spotted driving in the wrong direction.
On Thursday, June 19 a team of officers issued a number of tickets and verbal warnings to drivers caught turning off the highway on to Calle Independencia, a north-bound one-way street. A few more were busted for heading west on the lower service road. Legal circulation on all lateral roads runs in the same direction as the nearest lane of traffic. Transito cops are also mounting a crackdown on motorcycle and scooter riders who don’t wear protective helmets.
