In a move that may turn out to have future implications for Jalisco, Mexico’s Supreme Court has ruled that laws introduced in 2013 banning the adoption of children by same-sex couples in the state of Campeche are unconstitutional.
The court said laws that do not give parental rights to same-sex couples should be repealed.,
Only one of the ten judges voted against the ruling.
Religious groups in Jalisco recently launched a campaign to overturn Supreme Court decisions that provide more rights to same-sex couples. Many believe only heterosexual couples have the right to marry and adopt children.
