As a throng of devoted pilgrims accompanied the Virgin of Zapopan in the traditional Romería procession held last week in the state capital, Chapala’s faithful congregated for a simultaneous celebration at the waterfront Malecón.
The service took place at foot of the five-meter fiberglass statue representing the Queen of Lake, raising prayers of thanks for a bountiful rainy season. Parish priest Enrique Monteón Curiel announced that the tribute will be repeated annually on October 12.
