Chapala parishioners were treated to a preview look at the elegant new cloak the Virgin of Zapopan will wear for her visit to town on Sunday, July 12.
Haute couture seamstress Diana Velazco (left) arrived from Guadalajara last Saturday in time to show off her expert handiwork during evening Mass. The turquoise silk mantle is heavily embellished with decorative details and figures representing nine lakeshore communities, all hand-embroidered with gold and silver threads. It was displayed again at all the services held the following day. The beloved image will also debut a gown specially fashioned for the occasion.
