American Legion pays tribute to war dead

Lakeside’s international community was fully represented as citizens of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Mexico gathered to pay tribute to men and women who died in military service to those nations at the Memorial Day ceremony held Monday, May 27 at Chapala’s American Legion Post 7.

Canadian bagpiper Ronald Barnett performs ‘Amazing Grace’ in tribute to men and women who sacrificed their lives on the battlefield.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1 President M.B. Corbell reads “In Flanders Fields,” the iconic poem written by Canadian  John McCrae about World War I.

Patriots attending the Memorial Day service saluted flags and fallen war heroes from the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Mexico.

The table is set, waiting for the return of those missing in action, at the Memorial Day celebration at American Legion Post 7 in Chapala.
