Magic

The wizardry of the internet is really the stuff of fairy tales. We sit at a little machine in our own home (or even on the bus or, God forbid, when we’re driving) and put ourselves in touch with virtually the whole world. Most of the information I receive to fill out the columns I write each week comes to me in email form. It’s terrific.

Be advised, however, that sometimes the fairy dust doesn’t reach the right destination. Don’t just send off an email and then split for the beach without checking to see whether it came back to you or if you have a response. One reader recently pointed out to me that her email address wouldn’t speak to mine … or maybe it was that mine would not accept hers … I don’t know which it is and my magic wand doesn’t seem to be able to explain the difference.

So don’t forget to check. You can do that by accessing your own email or by (drum roll here) picking up the telephone. Yes, it’s old fashioned but still really relevant and it’s instant gratification.
