Bikers bare all to protest car culture

Organizers say 1,600 cyclists stripped off, either completely or partially, to participate in Guadalajara’s Naked Bike Ride last weekend.

Dozens of cities worldwide joined in the exercise to protest oil dependency and car culture, while simultaneously celebrating the power and individuality of the human body.

The bikers rode for two and a half hours around 20 kilometers of metropolitan area streets, earning cheers and wolf whistles.

Many cyclists stuck “fragile” stickers on their bodies to highlight the dangers they encounter each day on the city’s hectic streets.  Many painted their bodies to make personal statements.
