Quirky Quebec art shows drawing big crowds

Two highly enjoyable art exhibitions from the Canadian province of Quebec are on display in the Cabañas Cultural Institute as part of the May Cultural Festival: “Dominique Lemieux’s Imagining Characters,” a magical collection of costumes, props and artwork from the world famous Cirque de Soleil; and “Candid,” a  satire of human nature comprised of 35 installations, videos, photographs and paintings.

The Lol Brothers, one of acts taking part in the May Cultural Festival, entertained an enthusiastic crowd at the Revolucion Tren Ligero station this week.

Classical recital series to run through November

Since 2009 the Nino Vallin Society has been working to promote chamber music in Guadalajara and showcase established and emerging talent. Under the direction of maestro Claudio Sotelo the society has programmed 14 concerts for 2012, all on Wednesday evenings and all at the Teatro Jaime Torres Bodet (España 2020, by the Niños Heroes monument).

Analco barrio hosts photo exhibit
