Federal and state flood relief funds from last September’s tropical storm Manuel are at last being distributed to 29 municipalities hard hit by flooding.
Jalisco will get a total of 468 million pesos to be used for 139 reconstruction projects: nine federal water projects, 24 state water projects, 37 buildings, two state highways and 67 federal highway repair projects.
Last year natural disasters cost Mexico more than 50 billion pesos. The hardest hit states were Guerrero, Veracruz and Chiapas. Jalisco comes in 13th place in natural disaster funding.
