Toddler drowns while dad fishes

A four-year-old girl drowned Friday, July 26 as she played at the edge of Lake Chapala with several other youngsters while her father was fishing out in the water.

Upon returning to shore, Ajijic resident Guillermo Romero Reyes, age 26, discovered the lifeless body of his daughter Jeannette floating in the shallow water lapping at the beach. Chapala firemen and Red Cross first responders arrived at the scene minutes after they were alerted to the tragic occurrence, but all efforts to revive the child were unsuccessful.
