Cruise ship tourism in decline

A number of cruise ship destinations on Mexico’s Gulf and Caribbean coastline are suffering from a severe lack of business.

Since 2011, not one cruiser has docked in any of the following resorts: Tampico, Tamaulipas; Guaymas, Sonora; Topolobampo, Sinaloa; Dos Bocas, Tabasco; Seybaplaya, Campeche; and Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

Cruisers continue to stop at five ports on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, but even the major resorts of Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Luas and Manzanillo have reported a significant drop in the number of liners visiting them in recent years.
