Chinese circus

For a spectacular dose of Chinese culture, check out the Circo Chino de Pekin at Plaza Patria. With acrobats from Peking, incredible costumes and even camels and tigers, it promises to be an eventful night out. However, anyone offended by wild animals being kept in small cages throughout the day may prefer to give it a miss. The circus is in Parque Avila Camacho, next to Plaza Patria, at the intersection of Avenida Patria and Avila Camacho. Performances are at 6.15 p.m. and 8 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and 4 p.m., 6.15 p.m. and 8.45 p.m. on Sundays.

Staff say it will run until April 26, but this may be subject to change, depending on attendance numbers. Call (33) 3668-3192 to confirm.

Zoo road works

Visitors to the Guadalajara Zoo should note that due to hydraulic concrete being laid on Calzada Independencia, the attraction is only accessible from the Periferico. Approach from the west and take the slip road (lateral) about 750 meters before the Periferico alongside the Planetarium.  Turn right just after the Planetarium (500 meters before the Periferico) on an unnamed road that will take you to the zoo entrance and car park.

Now the holidays have finished, the zoo goes back to its regular opening schedule of Wednesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
